Liverpool Half Marathon March 29th 2009 New Course
The revised course for the 2009 Liverpool Half Marathon received an official endorsement today (28.01.09.) at the first review meeting at Police H.Q. in Canning Place. Members of the Safety Advisory Group discussed the new course and no objections were raised, in fact it was very well received.
Runners can now look forward to an improved course and probably fast times with the majority of the course being flat. The one exception is the Upper Parliament Street section just after one mile as runners head toward Sefton Park. However, once at the top it is downhill or flat more or less all the way.
Alan Rothwell, Race Organiser said “it is very pleasing to receive such a good endorsement at this stage. A lot planning has gone in to creating the best possible course for runners whilst at the same time minimising the impact on other road users. It is difficult but can be done. I’m sure the runners will enjoy this one. I ran the course last week as part of the measuring process and I thought it really good. My Garmin was bang on at 13.1 miles as well!!’
