Liverpool Women’s 10K

Liverpool Women’s 10K race comes of age in 2007.

21 years on the run is proving just as popular as ever.

ONE OF THE COUNTRY’S BEST WOMEN ONLY EVENTS TO BE ENHANCED BY A NEW BULLY BUSTER 5K AND 1 MILE FUN RUN.

The Liverpool Women’s 10K reaches a milestone in 2007 when it will be 21 years since the first event was staged. Over that time the event has maintained it’s popularity with loyal following of around 4,000 devotees who annually take part.

There is even a select band of ladies who have taken part in every one and it is hoped they will all be back this year. Once again the event will be supported by main sponsors Worst Kept Secret and Liverpool City Council. W.K.S. has been with the event for a number of years now and is integral to the development of the race.

Last year they a 1 mile fun run was introduced to complement the main event and it was immediately successful with the under 12′s. Although designed specifically with the youngsters in mind it was quite clear there was a lot of interest for a shorter run. With this in mind the event will also be hosting a 5K run as part of the main event giving those who see 10K as a bit too far the opportunity to get involved and take part! The Bullybusters 1 mile fun run worked very well last year for the under 12′s and will no doubt be even more popular this year. (It should be pointed out that there are redevelopment plans scheduled to start in Sefton Park in and around the Cafe area but the actual start date has yet to be confirmed. This may mean that the course will have to restructured but it will depend on the commencement date. (These plans may also affect the Women’s Hydro Active Women’s 5K Challenge later on the year – September 16th) Part of the development plan for 2007 will see the start and finish revised to avoid the congestion that occurred last year. The main presentation stage should be more prominent this year and the warm up routine has already been confirmed!

The winners presentation should also be more apparent – and there will be more toilets in a more accessible location!! And with the event reaching 21 years of age there are a number of surprises the organising team is working up until race day so it should be a fantastic day with a great atmosphere. A Happy 21st to everyone taking part!
