IMPORTANT INFORMATION
The first Big Heart 5K is in danger of cancellation. The new 5K Fun Run scheduled for Sunday, June 29th and in memory of Alan Ball has attracted only 350 entries. The plan was to encourage Evertonians and Liverpudlians to run together around Stanley Park between the two famous football grounds but so far uptake is not sufficient to justify the event taking place. A minimum of 3,500 entries would be required to cover the operational costs alone so there is some way to go before that target is reached.
Alan Rothwell, Event Organiser said... " as a lifelong Evertonian myself I am surprised at the low number of entries, especially given the high level of interest when the idea was originally discussed".
A new date in August just ahead of the football season will be considered but confirmation cannot be made for a week or two until the new season fixtures are considered. It is likely to be Sunday, 10th August. Those who have already entered will be advised of the date change. If the event does not go ahead then all entry fees will be returned.
